Tokai City, May 2001 -
Aichi Steel Corporation (President: Yuji Shibata) begins rolling a series of “H”-shaped,
rolled stainless steel that is smaller than its 50 x 50 x 4 x 4 size.
This stainless steel has
been made by the method of welding three flat steels since 1986. The maximum size was
600mm in height, 500mm in width and minimum was 50mm in height, 50mm in width.
Production of rolled
steel smaller than 100mm in height and width could not meet market demand because of low
welding productivity. So Aichi Steel put its
established technique and skills to work to make an H-shape rolled steel of 50mm in height
and 50mm in width, which was released to market in 1999 to meet the market needs.
As the needs of
small-sized rolled steel design expanded, Aichi Steel developed an H-shape rolled steel
30mm high and 30mm in width, which is very difficult to make in the welding process. The
company believes that this product will be effective for customers that wish to expand the
limits of design, such as for reinforcement or design material.
Full production, at the
Kariya plant, and sales of this product start this month.
Outline of this steel is
as follows:
1. Manufacturing
size:
(Height=H) 30 x (width=B)
30 x (thickness=t1) 3 x (thickness =t2) 3 [mm] --
New size
(Height=H) 50 x (width=B)
50 x (thickness=t1) 4 x (thickness =t2) 4 [mm] --
developed in 1999
2. Steel
type: SUS304 / SUS304L / SUS316 / SUS316L
3. Sales
method: Keep the stock in authorized dealer and we will accept the order of
single piece steel.
4. Features:
(1) We exclusively make
and sell this special size of steel, which is impossible to make in welding process
(2) Productivity is
drastically improved by making steels rolled
(3) By making steels
rolled, there is no bead in welding process. It makes surface grinding job much easier.
5. Major
usage:
(1) Structure /
reinforcement material (atomic energy, chemistry, petroleum plant, for construction, food
industry machine, water gate, etc)
(2) Design material
(Monument, publicity tower, etc)
6. Patent:
Patent pending in Japan
7. Production
plant: Kariya plant
8. Sales
start: May 2001
