Tokai
City, May 2001 - Aichi Steel Corporation (President: Yuji Shibata) has developed a stainless steel bars for concrete
reinforcement,
which it calls “SUSCON.”
While
normal steel concrete bars require maintenance in 20-30 years because of corrosion, stainless steel bars for concrete
reinforcement
is much more economical in terms of lifecycle costs. The stainless steel’s special
characteristics of corrosion resistance and anti-magnetism can be used for the
construction of hospitals, airports, and semiconductor plants, which do not usually use
iron-reinforcing bars.
Aichi
Steel expects to meet the demand of customer for construction and decorating metallic
material with hairline processing and surface grinding.
The
company starts full production, at its Chita plant, and sales this month.
Outline
of this steel is as follows:
1. Product name: stainless steel bars for concrete
reinforcement
[SUSCON]
2. Manufacturing
size: D10, D13, D16, D19, D22, D25
(4 sizes of D29, D32, D35, D38 will be developed within this year)
3. Steel
type: SUS304 / SUS304L / SUS316 / SUS316L
4. Sales
method: Keep stock in authorized dealers and single bar orders are accepted.
5. Features:
(1)
Corrosion resistance level is very good to reduce costs steeply compared to normal steel bars for concrete reinforcement
in terms of lifecycle cost.
(2)
It can be used for the construction, which requires corrosion resistance and
anti-magnetism
(3)
By providing surface processing, it can be suited to the customer that stresses design
6. Major
usage:
(1)
Reinforcement of external wall and concrete / step, construction with anti-magnetism /
Design construction material
7. Production
plant: Chita plant
8. Sales
start: May 2001
