Aichi, February 24,2000 -
Aichi Steel announced today that it had jointly developed a magnetic dental attachment
with Inoue Attachment Co., Ltd. The new product will be launched in March.
Aichi Steel's previous magnetic attachment, launched in 1992, was very popular and had an
accumulative sales volume of more than 800,000 units. Customers reported that the
attachment was easier to use and had stronger holding power compared with conventional
dentures that use springs.
Since then, the company improved the original magnetic attachment and developed a new
product based on customers' suggestions, particularly those of the elderly and of those
requiring an attendant. Consequently, Aichi Steel developed a magnetic attachment for
dentures that requires only one day to process.
A new keeper makes it possible to prepare the attachment in one day, if the patient's
dentures are available. The cushioning effect of the magnetic attachment decreases
wear-and-tear of the gum during long periods of use. The result is fewer visits to the
dentist for adjustments, which is good news for the elderly, says Aichi Steel. |
