On January 22, 2002, Aichi Steel Corporation (head office: Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture / President: Yuji Shibata) began marketing its Dental Magnet Tester, which can measure and view dental magnetic attachments with one-touch operation.

The dental magnetic attachment uses strong magnets to fix the dentures, which can therefore be easily attached and removed, improving usability. Since Aichi Steel began marketing it in 1992, more than a million units have sold both in the domestic and overseas markets.

For a long time, dentists have needed a way to check the absorptive force of dentures fixed with magnetic attachments during periodic dental examinations.Aichi Steel's new product was jointly developed by its subsidiary Aichi Micro Intelligent Corporation (AMI, head office: Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture / President: Akiyoshi Morita) and Professor Kaneo Mohri in Nagoya University.

The product is an easy to use hand-held device that measures absorptive force, by utilizing the Aichi Steel's super-high sensitive magnetic sensor (MI sensor). The product can be used for periodic medical examination of dentures fixed with the magnetic attachment, enabling the examiner to adjust the dentures as necessary. As a consequence, the dentures can be maintained in good condition, which means greater patient satisfaction over the long term.
